Greytown was established as NZ's first planned inland town in 1854. It remains one of the most charming small rural towns in New Zealand with its blend of restored buildings and mature trees (a testament to the community’s early involvement in Arbour Day plantings).

On your walk into Greytown from Greyvilla you will be charmed by well maintained examples of Victorian architecture, and you can see even more on the town's Heritage Trail. Visit the Early Settlers' Museum and treat yourself to handcrafted chocolates.

Sample some of Greytown's food places: coffee or brunch at Main Street Deli, lunch or dinner at The White Swan, www.thewhiteswan.co.nz, Salute and Wakelin House. Or 'do it yourself' with delicious French bread and pastries from The French Baker, meat for the BBQ from the traditional Greytown Butchery, cheeses and wines from Fenick & Davy, and fresh fruit and vegetables from the local orchards.

For a bit of retail therapy there are many boutique shops to tempt you: designer clothes, gifts, and antiques. If you enjoy being pampered email essentially.you@wizbiz.co.nz

If you enjoy the outdoors, there are many walks for all abilities in the foothills of the Rimutaka Ranges, including Mount Holdsworth. If an aerial view of the Wairarapa is your thing, try hot air ballooning.

If you get a thrill from adventure, go and visit the guys at the Adventure Centre at 76 Main Street or www.ecoadventure.co.nz
Or if golfing is your thing, there are two public golf courses close by in Carterton and Martinborough.

These are only some of the things you can do from your base at Greyvilla. To get a more comprehensive look at what you can do in this area go to www.wairarapanz.com or read the brochures supplied at Greyvilla.
